Project Introduction
The Kamoya Copper Cobalt Ore Project in DRC is located in the Central African copper and cobalt metallogenic belt, which is the third largest copper mineral resource rich area in the world. The first phase of the mine has an expected lifespan of 8-year, with a total amount of nearly 60 million tons of material to be stripped and mined.
Challenges
In the early stages of the project, there were virtually no operational underground mines in the local area and little mature experience of underground mining development. Consequently, the project could only advance steadily through exploration, overcoming numerous unknown challenges along the way.
The Kamoa underground mine itself possesses extremely complex hydrogeological conditions, making it a typical high-water-bearing deposit. This geological characteristic increases the complexity of the project's development. In order to proactively mitigate various risks during development and ensure the project's steady progress, we assisted both domestic and foreign clients in conducting a detailed and comprehensive feasibility study. This involved systematically identifying technical risks and formulating scientific contingency plans, providing professional and efficient technical support for the preliminary preparatory work of the project.

However, once tunnelling operations commenced deep underground, the hydrogeological complexity and water inflow volume far exceeded initial projections. In this critical moment, we responded swiftly by immediately dispatching a specialized technical team to the project site. The team conducted on-site investigations, developed a tailored technical solution for managing the water inflow and closely monitored the implementation of the plan. They also provided comprehensive technical guidance to resolve the challenges completely.
Thanks to the relentless efforts of multiple parties, the challenge of water inflow was successfully resolved, effectively mitigating the risk of project delays and minimizing economic losses for the client. During the crisis response, we demonstrated our ability to act quickly, our professional technical expertise and our strong sense of responsibility. This earned us high recognition and full affirmation from both domestic and foreign clients. This further strengthened our foundation for cooperation in overseas mining projects and laid the groundwork for future international business expansion.
Products Supplied
For open-pit copper mining, the heavy-duty hydraulic excavators and mining trucks are highly recommended. Underground copper mining requires devices that are compatible with the space. Based on this, we recommend raise-boring machine and small electric loader. When it comes to crushing, cone crusher and jaw crusher are highly recommended.
